Ideas Into Action Entrepreneurship Series

For the past two years in late Spring, IMFFA, together with WBFN and IDBFA, has offered a series of lunchtime workshops designed to equip fledgeling entrepreneurs with the tools they need to plan and launch their new businesses. Workshop topics in 2016 and 2017 included:

· Becoming an Entrepreneur – what does it take – characteristics of successful entrepreneurs – coming up with a business idea – start-up considerations and business planning – obtaining seed funding.

· Structuring and Launching Your Entrepreneurial Business – ownership structures – taxation issues – finding premises – employing staff – insurance.

· Marketing Your Entrepreneurial Business – evaluating market potential – attracting customers – developing a marketing plan – creating a website – using social media to promote your business.

Each workshop is presented by an expert keynote speaker and panel of successful entrepreneurs, including a number of IMFFA, WBFN and IDBFA members. Drawing on their first-hand experience in imagining, building and growing their business, panelists discuss the joys and challenges of being your own boss! Featured businesses have included ArepaZone (Winner of DC’s Best Food Truck Award), MissNowMrs, The College Lady DC, Base Three Studio, Deringer Consulting, and Tandem Nomads.
